Shopping Small, pt 2

Soon…

I only have three full days before my Shopping Small challenge begins, and I’m starting to feel the pressure already!

I haven’t found a place to buy cosmetics yet. I’ve had some recommendations from friends, which I intended to go check out this weekend, but I got hit with a ridiculous cold and haven’t left the house. I don’t have a ton of cosmetic needs; just moisturizer, mascara, eyeliner and lipgloss.  This should not be an unsurmountable problem.

I’m still a little concerned about not being able to shop at Nordstrom and DSW for shoes…though I have a long list of boutiques I’m excited to try: Eddie’s Shoes, Burnt Sugar, Romax, A Mano, and Clementine.  I’m sure I’ll be just fine…

Another worrisome thing I’ve realized over the past couple days is that I’ll have no idea where to go shopping for bras! Before Nordstrom I only bought bras from Victoria’s Secret – and they were horrible and my back always hurt. Nordstrom, while significantly more expensive, has never sold me a bra that caused me pain.  Anyone have any recommendations for lingerie boutiques?

But the matter of convenience…

Shopping for fun and shopping for groceries are things I can plan out pretty well.  But what about emergencies?

As I mentioned, I’ve been sick all weekend and today, all I wanted was decongestant, a half gallon of OJ, and a Butter Biscuit Ritter Sport from Trader Joe’s (because apparently that’s my magic remedy).  I’ll admit I was grateful that my challenge hasn’t started yet so I was able to do just that.

Thankfully, it’s just a cold and the survival rate is high. 🙂  But what if I had been seriously sick? What if CJ get seriously sick? Clearly I need to find local pharmacies and the closest locally run grocer.  But if a real emergency comes up, especially if it’s outside of regular business hours, I will go outside of my parameters. And I won’t consider it a failure.
